Sandra Mavhima - absolwentka The National Ballet School Floria Capsali oraz The National University of Theater and Cinematography I. L. Caragiale. Jej występy były prezentowane na najważniejszych wydarzeniach i festiwalach w Rumunii, Hiszpanii, Francji, Libanie, Tajlandii, a film tańca „Collective Identity” został wybrany przez Essential Dance Film – TenduTv (USA) do grona najbardziej reprezentatywnych filmów tanecznych 2012 roku na świecie. Przez lata tworzyła choreografie do spektakli teatralnych i tanecznych, reklam telewizyjnych oraz teledysków we współpracy z lokalnymi i międzynarodowymi artystami. W 2021 roku wydała książkę „The choreographic language in the experimental film” (wydawnictwo Artes Publishing House), będącą badaniem w dziedzinie kinematografii i mediów nad praktykami choreograficznymi ukształtowanymi na przestrzeni XX i XXI wieku.
Jej działalność była i jest wspierana przez takie instytucje jak French Institute Bucharest, Romanian Cultural Institute, Cervantes Institute, Municipality Cultural Center of Bucharest – ArCub, National Dance Center Bucharest, Nottara Theater, National Theater Bucharest, Mic Theater, National Museum of Contemporary Art, Center National Choreographique d’Orleans, Panta Rei Dance Theater Norway, Institute for Multidisciplinary Research in Arts UNAGE, etc. Obecnie jest adiunktem na „George Enescu” National University of Arts w Jassach oraz choreografką współpracującą z Sibiu Ballet Theatre.
Informacje o Sibiu Ballet Theatre (Teatrul de Balet Sibiu / TBS):
Sibiu Ballet Theatre (Teatrul de Balet Sibiu / TBS) powstał w 2008 roku z corps de ballet Sibiu House of Culture - instytucji podległej Radzie Lokalnej Sybina i Urzędowi Miasta Sybin. W roku powstania SBT liczyło zaledwie dziesięciu tancerzy, dziś jest to 38 członków, pochodzących z Rumunii, ale także z Nowej Zelandii, Australii, USA, Kanady, Japonii, Dominikany, Ekwadoru, Kuby, Portugalii, Hiszpanii, Włoch, Wielkiej Brytanii, Francji i Ukrainy. Sibiu Ballet Theatre jest pierwszym międzynarodowym zespołem baletowym w Rumunii - model ten został później przyjęty przez inne rumuńskie zespoły baletowe.
Tym, co wyróżnia Sibiu Ballet Theatre spośród rumuńskich zespołów, jest nie tylko międzynarodowy zespół tancerzy i tancerek, ale także repertuar, który skupia się nie tylko na balecie klasycznym, ale obejmuje również produkcje tańca współczesnego i baletu neoklasycznego. Spośród całej neoklasycznej i współczesnej choreografii, jaką SBT ma w swoim repertuarze, należy wymienić: „I'm a Communist Biddy!” - spektakl inspirowany powieścią o tym samym tytule autorstwa Dana Lungu (powieść przetłumaczona na co najmniej dziesięć języków - w polskiej wersji: „Jestem komunistyczną babą!”), „Check, please!”, „Impetus”, „Missa Prophana”, „Pory roku”, „Cudowny Mandaryn”, „City Beat”, „The Ionesco Trilogy” (SBT to jedyny zespół taneczny w Rumunii, którego repertuar obejmuje przedstawienie inspirowane twórczością Eugena Ionesco), „Nikita” (inspirowany poezją Nichity Stănescu), “Peer Gynt”, “Class Concert”, “Senses”, “Einstein”, “Tristan and Isolda.Freedom.Straussiana”, “When in Darkness”, “Bolero”, “Soft Power’’.
Innym celem, który SBT realizuje od kilkunastu lat, jest angażowanie nowych pokoleń tancerzy. Począwszy od 2008 roku SBT organizuje w Sybinie „Międzynarodowy Konkurs Tańca Klasycznego i Współczesnego” - imprezę, w której co roku bierze udział ponad 200 osób z całego świata, a ważne postacie międzynarodowego tańca zasiadają w jury i występują na scenie.

About Sandra Mavhima
A graduate of The National Ballet School Floria Capsali and The National University of Theater and Cinematography I. L. Caragiale. Her performances have been presented in major events and festivals in Romania, Spain, France, Lebanon, Thailand and the dance film Collective Identity was selected by Essential Dance Film – TenduTv (USA) for the collection of 2012’s most representative dance films in the world. Over the years she has created choreographies for theater and dance performances, TV commercial and music video in collaboration with local and international artist. In 2021 she has published the book The choreographic language in the experimental film, at Artes Publishing House, a research in the field of cinematography and media, on the choreographic practices developed during the XX-XXI centuries.

About Sibiu Ballet Theatre (Teatrul de Balet Sibiu / TBS)
The Sibiu Ballet Theatre (Teatrul de Balet Sibiu / TBS) was founded in 2008, established with the corps de ballet of the Sibiu House of Culture – an institution subordinated to the Sibiu Local Council and to the Sibiu City Hall. In the year it was founded, SBT was operated with only ten dancers, today the SBT corps de ballet counts with no less than 38 members, coming from Romania, as well as from New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada, Japan, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Cuba, Portugal, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, France and Ukraine. The Sibiu Ballet Theatre is the first ballet company in Romania that had an international corps de ballet, a model subsequently adopted by other Romanian ballet companies.
What singles out Sibiu Ballet Theatre from the companies in the Romanian dance scenery is not only its international corps de ballet, but its repertoire, which is not only focused on classical ballet, but it also includes productions of contemporary dance and neoclassical ballet. Furthermore, the Sibiu Ballet Theatre is the only dance company in Romania that increases its repertoire of shows with five new premieres each year. The SBT repertoire includes the most important titles in the classical choreographic repertoire: “Swan Lake”, “La fille mal gardée”, “Le Corsaire”, “Don Quixote”, "Coppelia”, “Sleeping Beauty”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “Giselle”, “The Nutcracker”, “Raimonda”, “Scheherazade”, "Paquita”, "Chopiniana”, “Bayadere”, “Harlequinade”.
Among all neoclassical choreography and contemporary that SBT has in its repertoire mention must be made of: “I'm a Communist Biddy!” - a show inspired by the novel bearing the same name, written by Dan Lungu (a novel translated in no less than ten languages), “Check, please!”, "Impetus”, "Missa Prophana”, "Seasons”, "The Miraculous Mandarin”, "City Beat”, "The Ionesco Trilogy” (SBT is the only dance company in Romania whose repertoire includes a show inspired by the works of Eugen Ionesco), "Nikita” (inspired by the poetry of Nichita Stănescu), “Peer Gynt”, “Class Concert”, “Senses”, “Einstein”, “Tristan and Isolda.Freedom.Straussiana”, “When in Darkness”, “Bolero”, “Soft Power’’(Performed at the high level international European conference of the Istambul Convention) amoung others.
Another development that SBT has strived for eight years is that of encouraging new generations of dancers. Starting with 2008, SBT has organized in Sibiu “The International Competition of Classical and Contemporary Dance”, an event that hosts over 200 competitors on a yearly basis, coming from all over the world, as well as important and prestigious names of the international dance scene, included in the jury and also performing on stage.
